Our Mission

We aim to transform a brownfield–a contaminated urban landsite–into the Memorial Art Park (M.A.P.), a flourishing greenspace designed by and for the New Haven members to promote healing through the arts.

By bringing together multidisciplinary perspectives in the local arts, this park will serve to commemorate and amplify the stories of those most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Our team noted four dimensions in defining a memorial, its long-term impact and purpose. None are mutually exclusive. In our approach and journey to build M.A.P. we hope to provide all of them!

Our Approach

We are partnering with NHFPL and Artspace among other cultural organizations to bring accessible exhibitions highlighting local artists' work and perspectives on healing, memory and community building during the / post pandemic.

Open to all, these exhibitions bring conversations around supporting, promoting, and engaging with local art, and invite all interested residents to directly have a say in our vision for M.A.P. — from voting on the location to the transformation of the park.
