on memory in phases
phase 01 — diary disks
11 installations. 11 disks. 11 diaries.
Hosted at different community centers, from the farmer’s market to the bike co-op, Diary Disks prompted community members to share their thoughts and experiences during the pandemic.
The youth is our future, and we looked no further than NXTHVN to hear from the next generation of artists.
Collective healing starts with our bodies. It starts with caring for ourselves and for each other. As New Haven reopened, we took deep breaths and completed a yoga workshop together.
phase 02 — memorial mapping
Our team worked with spatial, geographical statistics and traced correlations tying New Haven's history of redlining and infrastructural oppression to health outcomes in Black and Brown communities today.

phase 03 — the park
the Memorial Art Park
Memorial Art Park (M.A.P.) is our goal!
To not only transform a brownfield into a community green space, but to do so in a highly COVID-19 impacted neighborhood, is our goal!
Memorial Mapping is our progress!
Most importantly, we value doing this together.
Healing collectively. Building community around the arts. Designing and imagining what an arts-centered healing space can look like, both physically and as a collective of people, is the progress that brings M.A.P. and its robust arts programming to fruition!
Are you a New Haven resident? Interested in a part time position in our team? Excited to further our mission and values?
